Description:  Lilly Ledbetter worked for 19 years at the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in Alabama, as a night supervisor. She took the job in 1979 at age 39 to help her family, who were struggling to make ends meet. She had grown up in poverty in Possum Trot, Alabama, with no electricity or running water, picking cotton for eight cents per day, striving to be part of the middle class. When she was nearing retirement, she received an anonymous note alerting her that the salary of her male coworkers, who held the same position, was 40% higher than her own paycheck. She took her fight for equal pay all the way to the United States Supreme Court and then to the United States Congress. The Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act of 2009 was the first piece of legislation signed into law by President Barack Obama. This investment is in the coming feature film about her life. In “LILLY,” directed by Rachel Feldman, she will be played by the Oscar-nominated Patricia Clarkson, with John Benjamin Hickey as her husband Charles, and Thomas Sadoski as her attorney Jon Goldfarb.

Why We Invest: This is a movie that needs to be made. Lilly's story is compelling, amazing and touching. Stories and art can move people and change minds often more effectively than mere words.
