Why We Invest: Mining has traditionally been an environmentally harmful industry, yet critical minerals are essential to economic growth and indispensable to the clean energy transition. Despite this, mining has received relatively little climate-focused investment to modernize the sector. Nomadic is helping change that by supporting entrepreneurs developing technologies that enable mining to become cleaner, more efficient, and more responsible.

We were also drawn to the founders’ unique perspective. Both the male and female founders grew up in Mongolia and worked in mines before coming to the United States to earn advanced science and engineering degrees. Their firsthand understanding of the industry’s challenges, combined with their technical expertise, positions them to identify innovations that can transform one of the world’s most important industries.
