Description: The TCW Transform 500 ETF (VOTE) is a low-cost (5 bps) ETF that provides broad exposure to the 500 largest U.S. public companies while using shareholder engagement and proxy voting to encourage better corporate governance, stronger long-term performance, and more sustainable business practices. Rather than screening companies out of the portfolio, VOTE seeks to create value by engaging with company leadership and exercising the rights of long-term shareholders.

Why We Invest: Most climate-sustainability public equity funds rely on ESG screening and active management, which typically results in higher fees. While we believe companies with stronger environmental, social, and governance practices are likely to outperform over the long term, any performance advantage may be modest after expenses and is often overshadowed by broader market forces (e.g., the magnificent 7, AI, etc…). VOTE takes a different approach. Rather than attempting to outperform the market through security selection, it seeks to influence the market through shareholder engagement while maintaining the low costs and diversification of an S&P 500 index fund. We believe this makes VOTE an especially compelling entry point for investors who want to align their investments with their values without sacrificing broad market exposure.
